08. Keyword Alerts and Opportunity Matches

Manually scanning your full opportunities feed every day is time-consuming. Keyword alerts let you define the topics most relevant to you so PitchResponse can surface matching opportunities automatically, both inside the platform and delivered directly to your inbox or Slack channel.

How Keyword Alerts Work #

Each keyword alert is built around a single include keyword. When a new opportunity enters the PitchResponse system and its content matches your keyword, it appears in the Matches view within Opportunities and can trigger a notification depending on your settings.

You can create as many individual keyword alerts as you need, one per topic or phrase. Because each alert is independent, you can also apply exclude keywords to each one individually. Exclude keywords let you filter out opportunities that contain your include keyword but are not actually relevant. For example, a keyword alert for “marketing” with an exclude keyword of “influencer” would surface marketing opportunities while skipping any that are focused on influencer marketing specifically.

Setting Up a Keyword Alert #

To create a new keyword alert, navigate to the Keywords section within your project and click Add Keywords. You will be prompted to enter:

Include Keyword The single keyword or phrase that an opportunity must contain to trigger this alert. Be specific enough to surface relevant results but not so narrow that you miss opportunities phrased slightly differently.

Exclude Keywords Any keywords that should cause an opportunity to be skipped even if it contains your include keyword. You can add multiple exclude keywords to a single alert. This is useful for filtering out sub-topics or angles that fall outside your focus.

Once saved, the alert is active and will begin matching incoming opportunities against your keyword.

The Matches View #

The Matches view within Opportunities shows only the opportunities that have matched one or more of your keyword alerts. It is separate from the Current feed, your Bookmarked list, and other views, and gives you a focused starting point for your daily pitching activity without having to scan everything that has come in.

Think of it as a pre-filtered version of the feed tailored specifically to your defined areas of expertise or interest. For a full overview of all the views available within the Opportunities section, see 06. Browsing and Managing Your Opportunities.

Notifications for Keyword Matches #

In addition to seeing matches in the platform, you can receive notifications when new matching opportunities arrive. Notification settings are managed at the project level inside your Project Settings, and the frequency options available are:

  • Immediately — a notification is sent as soon as a matching opportunity enters the system
  • Once a day — a single daily digest of all new matches
  • 3x per day — a digest sent three times throughout the day

There is also a separate Daily Expiring Opportunities notification that can be enabled independently. This sends a daily reminder listing opportunities in your Matches that are approaching their deadline, helping you avoid letting relevant requests expire before you have had a chance to respond.

Notification Channels #

Notifications can be delivered via two channels:

Email Notifications are sent to the email address associated with your PitchResponse account. No additional setup is required beyond enabling the notification in your Project Settings.

Slack Notifications can be sent to a Slack channel of your choice. Setting up Slack notifications requires connecting PitchResponse to your Slack workspace via OAuth. You will be prompted to log in to Slack and authorize the connection, then select the channel where notifications should be delivered. Once connected, notifications will appear in that channel according to the frequency you have configured.

Both channels can be enabled at the same time if you want notifications in both places. Notification settings apply globally across all keyword alerts for that project rather than being configurable per individual keyword alert.
